Dear Candidate,

We are looking for a dynamic Packaging Engineer with expertise in Industrial gear, shaft & structural parts packaging to support our global manufacturing network. This role will focus on designing and standardizing transport and packaging solutions across multi-location overseas plants, ensuring product integrity, cost efficiency, and compliance with international logistics and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and validate internal (transport) and external packaging systems for gears, shafts, and related drivetrain components.
  • Collaborate with product design, logistics, and quality teams to ensure packaging meets technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop internal handling and transportation devices and equipment that optimize cost, prevent quality issues
  • Develop returnable and expendable packaging solutions based on part geometry, weight, and fragility.
  • Optimize transport and packaging for space utilization, ergonomics, and sustainability.
  • Inventarize current solutions and define best practices by product group within the current plants
  • Create and maintain packaging documentation, including CAD drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Interface with suppliers and 3PLs to source materials and manage packaging inventory.
  • Interface with supplier for part packaging development.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce handling and quality issues due to improper packing and handling equipments, packaging costs and environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, logistics, quality) across multiple location globally to support packaging development for process & finish product.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in packaging concept design & development.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in machining and gear cutting processes & General Machining (hobbing, shaping, gear grinding, turning, HMC, VMC, VTL, SPM etc.).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA).
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office.

Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of packaging materials (corrugated, foam, plastics, metals) and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and supply chain logistics is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support the business, locally & globally.
