Job Description:

Application Packaging Engineer will create, test, and maintain standardized software installers (like MSI or Win32) for enterprise-wide deployment, ensuring compatibility and compliance with organizational standards.

Key responsibilities include customizing installations using scripting and packaging tools, performing quality and integration testing, troubleshooting deployment issues, documenting processes, and supporting automated software distribution using tools such as SCCM and Microsoft Intune.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in application packaging using different tools. E.g. Intune, SCCM etc.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Intune application packaging tool.
  • Develop, test, and maintain software packages (e.g., MSI, EXE, App-V, IntuneWin) for Windows-based applications.
  • Experience with Win32 apps and MSI installations specifically for CAD software.
  • Knowledge of typical CAD software licensing models and their significance for deployment.
  • Scripting skills.
  • Experience with automation tools and deployment methods
  • Creation of packages, dependency handling, detection methods, return codes
  • Automation of installation and uninstallation processes, error handling, logging and audit trails
  • Use of proactive remediation and lifecycle management for recurring problems
  • Migration paths from existing manual processes to auto-deployments (documentation, rollback plans)
  • Integration into existing software management processes (especially with our external provider)
  • Planning a robust app deployment strategy: piloting, testing and staged rollout
  • Security and compliance requirements
  • Documentation of processes
  • Analytical approach to challenges.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, ITSM and Enterprise processes.
  • Familiarity with IT governance and IT Security Management.
  • Analytical approach to challenges.
  • Certifications in SCCM and Intune is a plus.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills.
  • Knowledge of German is a plus.
