Role Overview

The Head of Power Transformers Testing will lead the testing operations for high-voltage transformers (400 to 765 kV class), ensuring compliance with global standards, customer specifications, and internal quality benchmarks. This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic leadership, and hands-on experience in high-voltage testing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing Strategy & Execution

  • Lead and manage all testing activities for power transformers from 400 to 765 kV class

  • Develop and implement robust testing protocols aligned with IEC, IEEE, and BIS standards

  • Oversee Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Type Tests, and Routine Tests

  • Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage a team of test engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, precision, and continuous improvement

  • Mentor junior engineers and build technical capabilities across the team

  • Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to quality systems and regulatory requirements

  • Interface with internal QA/QC teams and external auditors during inspections and certifications

  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with design, production, and sales teams to align testing outcomes with customer expectations

  • Participate in customer witness testing and provide technical clarifications

  • Infrastructure & Innovation

  • Drive upgrades in testing infrastructure, including HV labs, instrumentation, and automation

  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies in transformer diagnostics and predictive testing

Desired Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of transformer testing standards and procedures
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage test equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical phenomena and interpret test data
  • Familiarity with digital reporting systems and test data analytics

Preferred Background

  • Experience in leading testing operations in large-scale transformer manufacturing setups
  • Exposure to international projects and customer audits
  • Certifications in high-voltage testing or quality systems (e.g., ISO, NABL)
