Application Development Senior Supervisor

Job Description Summary

This role combines line management responsibility for non-Bangalore based developers in the Salesforce Digital team together with development responsibilities within a Digital scrum team.  You will play a pivotal role in guiding and developing a team of developers while continuing to contribute as lead developer to the technical delivery of your own scrum team. Developers you manage will be across the Digital scrum teams.

The Organisation:

The Global Health Digital Technology organisation is responsible for International Health's shared Contact Center, Provider and Digital software solutions used across many of our regions.  The multiple scrum teams in the Global space have developers and testers in Bangalore and are continuing to invest in growing the capability and maturity of these teams.

The Position:

Reporting to the Head of Technology – Digital & Platform, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of individuals in the International Digital teams.  You will oversee the onboarding, training and effectiveness of your team and will liaise closely with Scrum Masters, Supervisors and Senior Supervisors across the Digital and other scrum teams to ensure that the needs of the teams are being met and managed effectively. The Digital Senior Supervisor will be a high-performing individual who is methodical, inquisitive and has a passion for high-quality deliverables.

Engaging across the IH Global scrum teams you will support effective delivery of successful Salesforce software solutions utilising SAFe Agile methodology, collaborating with individuals located globally with both in-person and remotely managed meetings.

In your technical capacity you will work as a Salesforce/Vlocity Lead Developer in an Agile scrum team and will be responsible for managing assigned work requests throughout the SDLC, building customized solutions using Salesforce declarative tools, custom code, and AppExchange products.  The candidate will require an understanding of business processes related to the Experience Cloud and Service Cloud applications as well as strong technical and communication skills to interface directly with internal stakeholders to understand their needs in order to develop and enhance the system accordingly.  

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

• Provide line management to developers within IH Digital
• Lead performance management, including regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and annual reviews
• Mentor and coach developers to support their technical and professional growth
• Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams
• Create and execute career development plans to support technical and professional growth
• Have a detailed awareness of the demand on each of the individuals in the team
• Manage resourcing related risk & issues with proactive mitigations
• Partner with other supervisors and leads to ensure consistency and alignment across teams
• Work as a dedicated lead developer one of the Digital scrum teams, delivering user stories from its back log
• Actively participate in sprint planning, estimation, and story refinement sessions
• Take ownership of delivery committed story points as a hands-on contributor
• Ensure adherence to best practice in coding, testing, and agile delivery
• Participating in peer review sessions with other Salesforce developers and admins within Cigna's Salesforce community
• Collaborate with Cigna's Architecture team in regards to project/small change intake and related Salesforce effort estimates 
• Communicating with business partners to set expectations and negotiate when needed, explaining complex technical issues and producing technical documentation 
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and QA engineers to ensure successful sprint outcomes
• Adhere to the organization's policies, best practices and help to drive changes to achieve more efficiency

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 10+ Yrs experience in Software Development
• Knowledge of the Health Insurance Industry  
• Broad knowledge of the Software Delivery Lifecycle 
• Proven experience of working within an Agile environment 
• Proven experience of development using Omniscripts, Data Raptors and Integration Procedures 
• Competent user of Microsoft office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills 
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills 
• Comfortable working independently, leading a team or as part of a team 
• Demonstrate accuracy and possess a keen eye for detail 
• Strong interest in both mentoring and own personal development 
• At least one of
  • Certified Salesforce Administrator 
  • Certified Platform App Builder 
  • Certified Platform Developer I 
  • Certified Omnistudio Developer

• Financial Services business knowledge 
• Web based software development, especially using Java and HTML 
• Salesforce & Vlocity/Omnistudio Technology
• Copado, VS Code, JIRA/ADO 
• Apex, Triggers, Visualforce, Lightning Aura/LWC 
• Salesforce Administrator & declarative development - Process Builders, Workflow, Validations, Object Model, Security Model 
• Certified Copado Fundamentals I and II 
• Experience with Salesforce DevOps tools such as Copado, Git, SFDX
