MenuWise is a 20-year-old foodservice SaaS platform now being rebuilt for the next decade. Chefs, caterers, and food businesses across Australia and New Zealand rely on us for recipe management, costing, nutrition, and supplier intelligence.

We are a small, senior, international engineering team. We move fast, write clean code, and build tools that thousands of kitchens use every day.

Your work will directly improve recipe accuracy, menu profitability, nutrition quality, and workflow efficiency for real chefs in real kitchens. This is meaningful engineering with real impact.

Who Were Looking For

A strong backend engineer who is confident with NestJS and TypeScript, understands system design, and enjoys writing clean, reliable server-side code.

We are hiring for one role with two possible levels:

  • Senior Backend Engineer
  • Lead Backend Engineer (for more experienced candidates)

This is a hands-on role. You will write production-grade code every week while also helping guide architecture and best practices.

What Youll Do

  • Build and maintain backend logic in NestJS + TypeScript
  • Design and optimise the PostgreSQL database layer
  • Develop clean, scalable REST APIs
  • Integrate with external tools (payments, analytics, support systems)
  • Ensure performance, security, and reliability
  • Write unit tests and keep the codebase stable
  • Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and data teams

  • If joining as Lead:

  • Guide architecture decisions

  • Review code and set quality standards
  • Mentor other engineers

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with NestJS
