Legal & Compliance R&D Officer - Male Candidate

Location

Bengaluru (or company location) — no requirement for interfacing with local bodies.

Experience & Education Required

  • Master's in Law (LLM) — mandatory.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in legal research, regulatory/legal compliance research or related fields.

Job Purpose

Carry out in-depth legal and regulatory research; analyse laws, regulations and notifications relevant to the business; interpret regulatory developments; advise internal stakeholders on compliance implications — helping the organisation remain legally and regulatorily aligned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research on national and industry-specific laws, regulations, statutory provisions, government notifications and judicial precedents relevant to company's domain.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, amendments, new legislation or legal guidelines; interpret changes and assess potential impact on business operations.
  • Analyse business operations, contracts, projects or proposals to identify potential legal or compliance risks based on research findings.
  • Provide legal/regulatory insights and advisory to internal teams (Operations, Projects, Management) based on research — highlight compliance risks and guide decision-making.
  • Maintain a repository or database of relevant laws, regulations, legal references, notifications and research outputs for use across the organisation.
  • Prepare periodic reports or legal-research briefs summarizing regulatory environment, emerging risks, and actionable inputs for management.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel or subject matter experts if specialised interpretation or deeper legal opinion is required (on specific laws/regulations).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong legal-research skills — ability to analyse statutes, regulations, notifications and legal precedents and extract relevant insights.
  • Excellent analytical and interpretative skills — able to foresee compliance/legal risks and advise accordingly.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) — to present complex legal/regulatory information in clear, actionable form to internal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and organized — capable of maintaining legal-research repository, tracking legal developments, and producing accurate research reports.
  • High integrity, ethics and professional judgement.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating across teams; ability to handle multiple research tasks and deadlines.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Reports to: Head of Legal & Compliance / Director – Legal & Compliance.
  • Collaborates with: Internal departments (Operations, Projects, Management, Finance) and external legal advisors (when required).
