Own the end-to-end hardware product lifecycle—from concept and prototyping through EVT/DVT/PVT builds and mass production. You'll align cross-functional teams (ID/ME/EE/FW, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Ops), drive schedule and cost targets, ensure compliance and reliability, and deliver great products at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Ownership: Translate business goals and user needs into clear hardware requirements, PRDs, and roadmaps; manage scope and trade-offs across cost, quality, and schedule.
  • NPI Execution: Plan and lead EVT/DVT/PVT builds; define entry/exit criteria; track yield, defects, and readiness; drive factory bring-up and ramp.
  • DFx & Quality: Lead DFM/DFA/DFT/DFR reviews; run DFMEA/PFMEA and risk mitigation; define reliability plans (thermal, vibe, drop, ingress).
  • Supplier/Factory Management: Select and manage EMS/ODM/JDM partners; negotiate MOQs and lead times; oversee tooling, PPAP/FAI, and process validation.
  • Change Control: Own PLM workflows (ECR/ECO/ECN), BOM accuracy, and revision history; maintain robust documentation and test plans.
  • Compliance & Safety: Coordinate certifications (CE/FCC/UL), and materials compliance (RoHS/REACH); ensure regulatory files are audit-ready.
  • Cost & Operations: Drive COGS to target via VA/VE and component strategy; partner with Supply Chain on sourcing, alternates, and risk buys.
  • Data & Reporting: Build dashboards for FPY/yield, RMA/field failure, and schedule variance; lead 8D/Corrective Actions for systemic issues.
  • People Leadership: Mentor a small team of hardware PMs/engineers; instill execution rigor and continuous improvement.

Must-Have Communication Skills

  • Executive brevity: Clear RAG/status summaries with risks, impacts, and decisions needed.
  • Factory & vendor alignment: Precise build readouts, action logs, and follow-ups; effective negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Cross-functional clarity: Translate technical constraints for Product, Design, and GTM; document trade-offs and rationale.
  • Change documentation: Unambiguous ECOs, test reports, and build instructions that are easy to execute on the line.
  • Asynchronous updates: Disciplined use of PLM/ALM tools with @mentions, deadlines, and artifacts linked.
  • Meeting facilitation: Structured agendas, tight timeboxing, decision/owner/ETA captured in MoMs.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7 to 10 years in hardware product development (consumer, IoT, or electro-mechanical products), including launch and ramp.
  • Proven ownership of at least one product from prototype to high-volume production.
  • Strong grasp of ME/EE fundamentals, tolerance stacks, PCB/PCBA processes (DFM, IPC standards), and common manufacturing methods (injection molding, die-casting, CNC, stamping).
  • Hands-on with reliability & validation workflows (HALT/HASS, environmental/EMC) and failure analysis.
  • Tooling: PLM (Arena/Agile), CAD/ECAD (SolidWorks/Creo; Altium/KiCad), ALM/PM (Jira/Wrike/Asana), Analytics (Excel/Sheets—pivots, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS).
  • Comfortable on the factory floor; able to diagnose build issues with test equipment and process data
