Job Description:

Position: PostgreSQL DBA

As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator, you will provide physical database support for EDB, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Open-Source PostgreSQL databases ensuring the integrity and availability of the database. You are responsible for monitoring, analysis, administrating and performance tuning at both the database and application levels. You will work with the respective application and business teams to fine tune the databases and its application code to enhance availability, performance, and security. Design and implement high available and scalable database platforms in on-premises and AWS environments. Automation plays critical role in this role to simplify routine activities.

You will utilize your knowledge and experience with security, backup, recovery, and archiving to made recommendations regarding process improvements for logical and physical data structures. You will forecast long-range requirements for database administration, while documenting the database environment and support processes.

Mandatory Requirements:

• At 6+ years of experience in administering on-prem/cloud PostgreSQL (AWS Aurora/RDS/EDB/ Open-Source PostgreSQL) databases.
• Expertise in planning, designing, building, and implementing complex database systems.
• The candidate must have experience working in the database domain with at least Six (6) years of experience managing in of PostgreSQL DB.
• In depth knowledge of PostgreSQL Database architecture.
• AWS cloud base Postgres database administration experience.
• Expertise in implementation and maintenance of High Availability, Disaster Recovery configurations like Streaming/Multi-master Replication, EFM, BDR, Logical replication, RDS Global Database, etc.
• Expertise in Database and Query Performance Monitoring and Tuning, capacity planning for PostgreSQL databases and using native and 3rd party tools.
• Automation skills in Shell Scripts/Python/Ansible/Terraform(cloud) to automate routine maintenance activities.
• Experience in implementing industry best practices for consistent installation and configuration of PostgreSQL for production, pre-production, and non-production environments.
• Conduct technical reviews and Walkthroughs of system design documentation with development and design team members.
• Experience in designing and development of logical and physical database designs.
• Design and implement replication and backups for mission critical/tier-1 applications.

Preferred Skills:

• Certified EDB PostgreSQL DBA is preferred.
• AWS Solution Architect Certification is preferred.
