Who are we looking for?

We are partnering with a
global consulting firm
that is supporting a
leading Indian financial institution
in strengthening and scaling its
micro-banking business
. This initiative aims to deepen financial inclusion while optimizing the operating model for long-term sustainability and growth.

We are seeking a
Senior Micro-Banking Expert
with extensive leadership experience in microfinance and rural banking in India. The consultant will bring hands-on expertise, provide strategic guidance, and help embed best practices that directly impact business performance.

Location
: Onsite in Bengaluru, India

Duration
: 3–6 months (full-time engagement)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead diagnostic assessments of the existing micro-banking operating model and recommend actionable improvements
  • Guide branch expansion, rural customer acquisition, and micro-lending models to drive scale and inclusion
  • Advise on product design and portfolio management across savings, micro-credit, insurance, and payments
  • Strengthen compliance and risk management frameworks in line with RBI regulations
  • Conduct workshops with leadership teams to align operating models, incentives, and growth strategies
  • Mentor internal teams to build long-term execution and leadership capacity

Skills & Qualifications

  • 15+ years of senior leadership experience in micro-banking, microfinance, or rural banking
  • Previous roles such as Head of Micro Banking, Business Head – Microfinance, or equivalent leadership positions
  • Proven track record in scaling micro-banking businesses profitably in India
  • Deep knowledge of financial inclusion models, rural distribution, portfolio management, and risk control
  • Prior experience at institutions such as
    CA Grameen, L&T Financial Services (LTFS), Bandhan Bank, IndusInd Bank, or IDFC First Bank
    strongly preferred
