Overview :

This role will lead media planning and buying for Jio HotStar as well as media buying and agency relationship management for the entire network. The Head of Media will be the expected to share insights on innovation, best practices and emerging trends and technologies with stakeholders across the organization.

The role holder is expected to lead a specialized media unit designed to elevate media capabilities organization-wide and bring operational excellence in the ways of working.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Media Planning:
  • Develop ground up 360 degree media strategies to deliver on the media briefs from the BUs. The briefs could be related to branding, content title marketing, range marketing or other initiatives e.g. driving platform viewership / pushing the subscription agenda.
  • Propose media mix for campaigns and collaborate closely with the BUs and budget owners to allocate media budgets for campaigns; and in delivering high impact campaigns. The proposal should take into account a 360 degree view of on platform inventory, network (internal buys) as well as various external media choices

Media buying and negotiation:
  • Leverage the power of the network to reduce cash spends
  • Define and implement SoPs for internal buys
  • Lead external media buying across TV, Print, OOH,Digital, Radio and any other media though agency / directly as required
  • Plan benchmarking and optimization for campaigns

Performance measurement and optimization
  • Establish measurement capabilities across campaign types
  • In-flight optimization of spends depending on continuous performance monitoring
  • Conduct brand lift, viewership lift studies
  • Maintain a ROI focused mindset

Market intelligence and innovation
  • Conceptualize and execute clutter breaking innovative campaigns to deliver BU objectives
  • Lead 'impact' partnerships and direct partnerships where required
  • Conduct periodic competitive spend tracking
  • Continuously benchmark rates across media to ensure efficiencies
  • Proactively equip internal sales teams, PRS teams, ad tech teams on pricing, new formats, trends and developments in the market - to sharpen their offering and narrative / feed into the product roadmap
  • Be the 'center of excellence' for knowledge sharing across the network on emerging trends

Governance and capability building
  • Own the end to end media agency relationship. From RFP, to onboarding, to day to day deliveries
  • Be at the forefront of understanding latest trends, tools and technology and continuously build the capabilities of the media team
  • Establish and promote best practices, standards and frameworks
