Role & responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution:

  • Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Define scope, technical specifications, deliverables, and resource plans.
  • Prepare project execution plans (PEP), timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and budgets and ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct regular project review meetings and provide updates to management.

Coordination with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Coordinate closely with process engineering, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, safety, procurement, and finance teams.
  • Work with plant teams to gather requirements, align on technical deliverables, and ensure smooth site execution.
  • Manage coordination between corporate office, consultants, EPC vendors, and contractors.

Technical & Engineering Management:

  • Work with process engineering teams to develop PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and design calculations.
  • Review engineering drawings, plant layouts, GA drawings, and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Ensure alignment with chemical process requirements, safety norms, and industry best practices.
  • Support vendor selection, technical bid evaluations (TBE), and FAT/SAT inspections.

Procurement & Vendor Management:

  • Coordinate with procurement for RFQs, vendor evaluations, negotiations, and purchase finalization.
  • Monitor delivery of equipment, machinery, and materials as per project timelines.
  • Build relationships with consultants, EPC contractors, fabrication vendors, and technology providers.

Cost Control & Budget Management:

  • Prepare project cost estimates, capex proposals, cash flow forecasts, and funding requirements.
  • Monitor and control project costs, highlight variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to financial approvals, capex policies, and contractual obligations.

Site Support & Commissioning

  • Support site teams during installation, erection, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Provide technical guidance to resolve engineering and execution challenges.
  • Visit project sites periodically for inspection, milestone verification, and progress review.

Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure project designs comply with chemical industry standards and statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with EHS teams to ensure safe design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review quality documents, inspection reports, and ensure compliance with QA/QC standards.

Preferred candidate profile

  • 12+ years of experience in chemical / petrochemical / specialty chemicals / API manufacturing projects.
  • Strong exposure to project management for greenfield, brownfield, plant expansion, or process modification projects.
  • Experience in coordinating with cross-functional teams from Head Office.
  • Hands-on experience in reviewing engineering deliverables, equipment specs, and process documents
