Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE:
The Accounting Manager has a thorough working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger and financial reporting, coupled with solid analytic and interpersonal skills. The Accounting Manager will drive the monthly close process and own responsibility for the full cycle, accurate accounting of the assigned Business Unit. This position will assist in the implementation of Company-wide accounting policies and procedures that reflect industry best-in-class practices to ensure accuracy and timely monthly closes
Mandatory Requirements:
- CA or CPA is mandatory
- Oracle or SAP experience
- 4+ years of US GAAP experience, big no for IFRS
- For commerce graduates, specialization to be mentioned
- Core knowledge of book keeping & accounting is mandatory
- Work from office in Pune (throughout)
- Readiness for night shift
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the monthly accounting close for the assigned Business Unit, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, compliance with U.S. GAAP and adherence to calendar deadlines.
- Review and approve certain journal entries prepared by Direct and Indirect Reports.
- Review and approve account reconciliations prepared by Direct and Indirect Reports.
- Prepare month-end closing packages for assigned Business Units
- Prepare monthly Balance Sheet and P&L analyses and explain any major fluctuations.
- Review certain schedules prepared by Direct and Indirect Reports
- Advise Direct and Indirect Reports regarding the handling of non-routine accounting and reporting transactions.
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to support the Accounting department's overall goals and objectives.
- Proactively identify workflow process improvements / efficiencies.
- Work with Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis personnel to prepare for the quarterly operational review meetings, which will entail explaining the results of the business units' by providing clear and concise explanations of actual results compared to budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Assist Senior Leadership with non-routine transactions such as: valuations of acquisitions and goodwill annual impairment testing.
- Ensure compliance with the Company's SOX program; including remediation of any control deficiencies within areas of responsibilities prior to each year-end.
- Support Senior Leadership with interactions and management of external auditors' periodic requests for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Assist with US GAAP technical accounting research, which will result in the preparation of technical accounting memos and related analysis to support and document managements' positions taken on certain accounting matters and/or transactions.
- Encourage Accounting team members to seek continuous improvement in processes and procedures
- Must be able to develop successful relationships and partner with individuals within Shared Services, Financial Planning & Analysis and Operational Management
- Other special projects or tasks as assigned by Senior Leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a thorough knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting work experience, preferably for publicly traded companies with a minimum of 3 years of Big Four Public Accounting
- CPA/CPA candidate required
- Great Plains Financial Systems experience, preferred
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office products, Excel (VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables), Word and PowerPoint
- Management experience preferred
