**Job Description** Substation Civil Designer/Draftsman**

**Position Overview**: The Substation Civil Designer/Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed civil and structural drawings, layouts, and documentation for substations ranging from 380kV, 115kV to 33kV systems. The role includes drafting designs for buildings, underground utilities, outdoor equipment foundations, and site grading plans, while ensuring compliance with design standards and project specifications. The draftsman will work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, high-quality designs.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- ** Drafting and Design Preparation**
- Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings for **substation buildings** (380kV, 115kV, 33kV), including precast and cast-in-situ components.
- Develop layouts and details for **cable trenches, cable tunnels, duct banks, manholes, handholes, septic tanks, soak pits, and underground water tanks**.
- Draft foundation layouts and details for outdoor equipment such as:

- ** Surge arresters**:

- ** Power transformers** and associated **firewalls**:

- ** Static VAR Generator (SVG) foundations**:

- ** Gantry tower foundations**:

- ** PACU (Power Auxiliary Control Unit) pads**
- Generate **site grading plans** including contour adjustments, levels, and topographical layouts.
- Develop **access and internal road layouts** for substation sites.
- ** Drafting Tools and Software Proficiency**
- Utilize **AutoCAD** and **Micro Station** to create accurate 2D drawings, sections, elevations, and layouts.
- Ensure all drawings meet project specifications, design standards, and client requirements.
- ** Collaboration with Engineers**
- Work closely with structural and civil engineers to understand project requirements and provide technical drawings accordingly.
- Incorporate design feedback and revisions from engineers to finalize drawings.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for consistency in designs and details.
- ** Documentation and Reporting**
- Maintain and organize drawing sets, revisions, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Generate reports and maintain logs for design progress and drawing submissions.
- ** Quality and Compliance**
- Conduct self-checks and peer reviews of drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Follow quality control procedures to maintain high drafting standards.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil and structural drafting, preferably in **substation projects** or similar infrastructure.
- Proficiency in:

- Drafting tools**:AutoCAD, MicroStation**:

- Site grading and topographical tools**:Civil 3D**:

- Documentation tools**:Microsoft Excel** for BOQs and reports.
- Strong knowledge of drafting standards, symbols, and detailing practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with civil design components such as grading, foundations, and underground utilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
