We are looking to add to our team an enthusiastic, competent public relations executive to manage our external communications in ways that promote our business and enhance its popularity.
**ABOUT THIS JOB**:
The ideal Public Relations / Marketing Communications Executive will possess creativity and knowledge of different tactics to identify and engage our target audience and appropriate external parties. The work would nominally be at FreeElective Network's office in the heart of Chennai, a few miles from the IIT-Madras campus. Most of the team has been working remotely since March 2020, and the option to work from home could be made available over time.
The position represents a terrific opportunity to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, especially for someone who is interested in a career in marketing, especially communications and public relations. **RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Devise effective PR plans, use a variety of marketing channels to maximize brand exposure tastefully, and coordinate all PR activities
- Manage inbound and outbound media enquiries, interview requests, and public-speaking opportunities at events and conferences
- Create content for press releases, newsletters, company updates, and other marketing copy for external communications
- Assess and create opportunities for sponsorships, advertising, and other partnerships
- Keenly observe industry and societal trends affecting our target audience and make relevant recommendations for appropriate communication strategies
- Leverage existing and new media relationships to drive brand awareness
- Analyze and present results of PR campaigns or efforts
- Assist management team in ensuring efficient progress of workflow and transforming business visions into reality
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Experience or demonstrated interest in public relations, marketing communications, or similar role
- Solid experience in social media marketing
- Excellent (English) communication, negotiation, and selling skills
- Working knowledge of office productivity software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) and relevant digital marketing tools
PREFERENCES:
- Proven experience in coordinating and managing effective PR campaigns through various channels
- Familiarity with B2B and B2C advertising campaigns
- Fluent in at least one other Indian language, besides English
- Bachelor's or higher degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or related field

- Organized and detail-oriented individual who works well with deadlines
- Willingness to learn, switch roles as necessary, and to roll up one's sleeves to get a job done
