**DHR-ICMR Advanced Molecular Oncology Diagnostic Services (DIAMOnDS) PROJECT
**Conceptualised in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North
- Eastern parts of India and the neighbouring countries, the Tata Medical Centre (TMC)
started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable
trust - Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well-trained
professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical
equipment. Set up at a cost of more than 500 crores, the Hospital, with a capacity of 450
beds, serves all sections of the society, with a proportion of the infrastructure earmarked
for free/subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. The hospital provides a
wide spectrum of services from diagnosis, therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support
in cancer. The Institution's objective is to excel in service, education and research.

high-end advance diagnostic services to cancer patients and research facilities for basic,

**1). Scientist ‘C ‘ ( Postion - 1 )**

**Qualification**: PhD or equivalent in the relevant specialty / M.D/DNB from a recognized
institution.

**Experience**: Fresh PhD / Medical Post Graduates ( MD ) can also apply. Experience in Next
generations sequencing / Real Time PCR based assays will be preferred.

**Department**:Department of Molecular Pathology***

**Duration of the Employment**: One years from the date of appointment, extendable

**Consolidated Salary: Rs. 57,660/- p.m.**

**Responsibilities**:
as manual and automated DNA/RNA extraction, nucleic acid amplification tests such end
point PCR, real-time PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis and sequencing (Sanger, NGS). The
scientist will perform relevant bench work in areas of the diagnostic molecular pathology
laboratory. This would involve working/assisting/developing various diagnostic areas of
the molecular laboratory such as molecular haematology (RT-PCR, Chimerism, MPN, AML,
ALL), Solid tumour molecular pathology (lung, colon, lymphoma) and HLA typing.

**Academic responsibilities**:
Apart from the regular academic work, he/she shall be willing to assist in ongoing research
projects.***

**Desirable Attributes**

Experience with next generation DNA sequencing and Real Time PCR analysis, trouble
shooting skills, especially ability to optimise PCR, deal with and prevent amplicon
contamination and develop new in-house molecular biology assays. Computer skills,
knowledge of laboratory information systems and experience with Internal Quality Control
and External Quality Assurance programmes are desirable.

**2). Research Assistant (Position - 1)**:
**Qualification**: BSC/MSC

**Desirable Experience**: Previous experience in cytogenetic is desirable.

is likely to continue for three years with yearly extensions.

**Salary**:Rs.**31,000 / month**

The research scientist is expected to receive process and perform analysis on the samples
received in the Cytogenetic department. The research scientist will perform relevant bench
work in the areas of diagnostic cytogenetic laboratory. He/she will be involved in
processing of samples for both karyotyping and FISH studies that include liquid and solid
tumours.

**3). Laboratory Technician (Position - 1)
**Qualification**: -Diploma / Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology

**Experience**: Fresh DMLT / Degree. 2 to 3 years’ experience in histopathology desirable.

**Duration of the Employment**: One years from the date of appointment, extendable yearly;
is likely to continue for three years with yearly extensions.

**Salary**:Rs. 18,000 / month
