**Position**: Staff Nurse - Labour Room
**Reports To**: Nursing Superintendent
**Location**: Angamaly
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Patient Care & Monitoring**:
- Assist in the admission, assessment, and preparation of expectant mothers for labor and delivery.
- Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rate, contractions, and other labor progress indicators.
- Provide emotional support and pain management techniques, including administering prescribed medications.
**2. Labour & Delivery Assistance**:
- Assist doctors and midwives during normal and complicated deliveries, including C-sections.
- Prepare and maintain delivery rooms, ensuring a sterile and safe environment.
- Handle newborn care immediately after birth, including APGAR scoring, suctioning, and thermoregulation.
- Assist in the active management of the third stage of labor, including oxytocin administration and placenta delivery.
**3. Emergency Management**:
- Identify and respond promptly to obstetric emergencies such as fetal distress, postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, or shoulder dystocia.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation if necessary.
- Assist in emergency procedures, including instrumental deliveries and C-sections.
**4. Postpartum & Newborn Care**:
- Provide immediate postpartum care to the mother, including monitoring vital signs and assessing for complications.
- Educate mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.
- Ensure proper documentation of labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
**5. Infection Control & Safety**:
- Maintain hygiene and aseptic techniques in the labor room.
- Follow infection control protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
- Properly handle and dispose of biomedical waste as per hospital policies.
**6. Communication & Documentation**:
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including labor progress, interventions, and outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, including obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthetists, and other nurses.
- Provide clear instructions and support to the patient and family members.
**7. Equipment & Supplies Management**:
- Ensure all medical equipment, such as fetal monitors, infusion pumps, and delivery kits, are functional and well-maintained.
- Maintain inventory of essential medications and supplies in the labor room.
**Qualifications & Skills**:
✔ **Educational Requirement**: BSc Nursing / GNM
✔ **Experience**: 1-5 years
✔ **Certifications**: BLS, ACLS, PALS, or Neonatal Resuscitation (as required)
✔ **Skills**: Patient care, emergency response, medical equipment handling, teamwork, communication
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
