The India Data Privacy Officer (India DPO) will play a key role in supporting the AXA XL Division in meeting its obligations under data privacy laws. Reporting to the Divisional Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO), the India DPO will be appointed as DPO for AXA XL Companies in India. The India DPO will support local compliance with data privacy requirements. In addition, the India DPO will actively support global data privacy compliance matters in collaboration with CDPO team, notably relative to EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

**General**

The India DPO performs Local DPO tasks for India as framed within AXA XL Data Privacy roles and responsibilities framework including:

- Initial contact person for any local data privacy matter or issue impacting the Companies under the India DPO’s control.
- Ensure watch process is in place on India evolving data privacy regulatory landscape
- Lead local compliance projects to meet new or evolving requirements in Inda with the support of the first line of defense.
- Adapt AXA XL Data Protection framework whenever needed and ensure adoption by Business.

**Core management responsibilities**
- Provide awareness and consultative advice to the business.
- Animate the Local Privacy Group including Local Data Privacy Champions, following up execution of local Department Privacy roadmap,.
- Prepare following CDPO guidance Audits or AXA Group Reviews.
- Prepare answers to any Indian Authority request regarding Data Privacy under CDPO control.
- Lead local Data Privacy processes (for example answer to individuals demands on their personal data).
- Support management of any personal data breach if affecting India
- Review for appropriateness any service or business contracts under which personal data processing activities are performed.
- Perform GDPR specific activity in support to Central team such as 1/ Performance of Transfer Impact Assessments, 2/ Performance of Data Privacy Impact Assessment 3/ Contracts review.

You will report to the CDPO.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

- Data Privacy / Compliance project on-field experience (2-3 years) in India
- Legal or Compliance background
- Project Management skills
- Leadership skills; including the ability to work with all levels of seniority.
