Roles and Responsibility for Environmental Officer

As a Waste Management Environmental Executive, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the environmental aspects of a waste management company.You will have experience in obtaining clearances from government departments like the pollution control board and knowledge of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) regulations.Develop, implement and manage environmental compliance programs in accordance with DPR and other relevant regulations and guidelines.Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and promote sustainabilityConduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) to identify potential environmental risks and make recommendations for mitigation measuresMonitor and report on the organization’s environmental performance, including air quality, water quality, and waste managementDevelop and deliver environmental awareness training to staff and stakeholdersManage environmental permits and licenses, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and legislationLiaise with regulatory bodies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and other stakeholders on environmental mattersIdentify and evaluate new technologies and practices to improve the organization’s environmental performancePrepare and submit environmental reports to relevant authorities and stakeholdersDevelop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as suppliers, customers, and community groupsKeep up-to-date with relevant legislation and industry trends and provide advice and guidance to the organization on emerging environmental issues

At least 6 Months of experience in DPR // environmental management, preferably in an
industrial or commercial setting
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and legislation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with
stakeholders at all levels
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate
potential environmental risks
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental management
software
