**Job Purpose**:
The Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards. They play a key role in menu planning, staff supervision, and ensuring smooth kitchen workflow.
**Key Responsibilities:Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation**:
- Supervise and coordinate food production activities to ensure consistency and quality.
- Assist in developing and executing menus, including special dietary requirements.
- Ensure timely preparation and presentation of dishes according to standards.
- Monitor portion control and food wastage to maintain cost efficiency.
**Team Management & Training**:
- Oversee kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to standard recipes and procedures.
- Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen assistants.
- Coordinate daily kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
**Quality Control & Hygiene Compliance**:
- Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards across all kitchen areas.
- Conduct regular checks on food storage, stock rotation, and expiry dates.
**Inventory & Cost Management**:
- Assist in food procurement and inventory management.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed to prevent shortages.
- Control kitchen expenses and work within budgetary constraints.
**Collaboration & Innovation**:
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to create new recipes and improve offerings.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service.
- Address and resolve any kitchen-related challenges promptly.
**Additional Responsibilities**:
- Maintain kitchen equipment in safe and working condition.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
