As an estimator, your primary responsibility would be to analyze project requirements and create accurate cost estimates for potential clients. This role involves assessing the scope of work, understanding architectural drawings and specifications, and determining the materials, labor, and equipment needed for each project.

Here are some key tasks and responsibilities typically associated with an estimator job in FSFTM:
1. Reviewing project plans: Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project requirements.

2. Quantity takeoff: Calculate the quantities of steel beams, columns, trusses, and other structural elements required for each project. This involves interpreting drawings and using software tools or manual calculations.

3. Material and labor estimation: Determine the quantities of raw materials such as steel, fasteners, and connectors needed for the project. Estimate the labor hours required for fabrication, assembly, and installation of steel frames and trusses.

4. Pricing and cost analysis: Research market prices for materials and labor, obtain quotes from suppliers, and evaluate subcontractor bids. Prepare cost breakdowns and pricing proposals for clients.

5. Collaboration and communication: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure accurate estimations. Collaborate with the sales team to review bids and provide input on pricing strategies.

6. Cost optimization: Identify opportunities for cost savings by suggesting alternative materials or construction methods that meet project requirements without compromising quality or safety.

7. Documentation and record keeping: Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and correspondence related to each project. Update and maintain a database of material prices and subcontractor information.

8. Continuous learning: Stay up to date with industry trends, building codes, and regulations related to steel frame and truss manufacturing. Attend training programs or seminars to enhance your knowledge and skills.
