**Job Summary**:The Medical Coding and Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately translating medical procedures and diagnoses into alphanumeric codes for insurance claims, billing, and medical records. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, maximizing reimbursement, and facilitating efficient revenue cycles for healthcare providers.

**Responsibilities**:
**Medical Coding**:Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical procedures and diagnoses based on documentation provided by healthcare providers.
Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate coding and compliance with coding guidelines.
Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and guidelines.

**Billing and Reimbursement**:Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, identifying and resolving billing discrepancies.
Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations when necessary.

**Documentation and Compliance**:Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines.
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to medical coding and billing practices.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding issues.

**Data Entry and Record Keeping**:Enter coded information into electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems.
Maintain accurate and organized records of patient encounters, procedures, and billing activities.

**Communication and Coordination**:Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding coding and billing inquiries.
Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to resolve coding and billing issues.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a related field. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred.
- **Experience**:Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in medical coding and billing.

Proficient in using coding software and electronic health record systems.
- **Skills**:Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes. Familiarity with insurance processes and reimbursement policies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- **Compliance**:Understanding of HIPAA regulations and other healthcare compliance standards.

**Work Environment**:The Medical Coding and Billing Specialist typically works in a healthcare facility, such as a hospital, clinic, or medical office. The role may involve a combination of office work and interaction with healthcare professionals.

**Salary**: ₹12,017.37 - ₹36,685.16 per month
