
Blood Bank Technician

The Blood Bank Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection, processing, testing, and distribution of blood and blood products. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The Blood Bank Technician will work closely with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to support patient care and medical procedures within the hospital.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Blood Collection and Processing**:
- **Donor Screening**: Conduct pre-donation interviews and physical examinations to assess donor eligibility.
- **Blood Collection**: Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood from donors, ensuring donor safety and comfort.
- **Sample Handling**: Label, store, and transport blood samples and products following strict protocols.
**Laboratory Testing**:
- **Blood Typing**: Perform blood typing and cross-matching to ensure compatibility for transfusions.
- **Infectious Disease Screening**: Conduct tests to detect infectious diseases and other conditions that could affect the safety of blood products.
- **Quality Control**: Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and perform regular quality control checks.
**Product Management**:
- **Component Preparation**: Process whole blood into components such as red cells, plasma, and platelets.
- **Inventory Management**: Track blood product inventory, ensuring adequate supply levels and proper storage conditions.
- **Distribution**: Prepare and issue blood products for transfusion, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
**Regulatory Compliance**:
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all blood bank activities, including donor information, test results, and inventory logs.
- **Safety Standards**: Follow all safety and infection control protocols to protect patients, donors, and staff.
- **Regulatory Adherence**: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- Rotational shift
- Weekend availability
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Jalandhar, Punjab: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
**Experience**:
