**Job Summary**:
The F&B Captain is responsible for managing guest interactions and ensuring a superior dining experience. This role involves presenting the menu, taking orders, upselling and suggestive selling, and collecting guest feedback. The F&B Captain ensures that the restaurant is ready for service, maintains cleanliness, and adheres to health and safety guidelines. The F&B Captain reports to the Assistant Restaurant Manager and the Restaurant Manager.
**Detailed Responsibilities**:
**Creating a Welcoming Atmosphere**:Ensure guests feel welcomed and valued from the moment they arrive. Create a warm and inviting atmosphere through attentive and friendly service.
**Guest Communication and Service**:Greet and introduce yourself to guests upon arrival. Present the menu, provide recommendations, and take orders accurately. Upsell and suggestive sell menu items to enhance guest experience and increase revenue. Take guest feedback and encourage them to write reviews on platforms like Google, Zomato, and TripAdvisor.
**Table Setup and Mise-en-Place**:Oversee the setup of tables, ensuring proper arrangement and presentation. Ensure all mise-en-place is ready for the restaurant’s opening hours. Follow and update the opening and closing checklists to ensure readiness for service.
**Promotional Menu and Special Offers**:Suggest promotional menus and special offers to guests. Stay informed about current promotions and new menu items to provide accurate information to guests.
**Menu Knowledge and Customization**:Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation. Educate customers about different foods, cuisines, beverages, and flavour profiles. Customize menu items based on customer preferences and dietary requirements.
**Health and Safety Guidelines**:Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe dining environment. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the restaurant. Ensure all staff follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
**Inventory Management**:Monitor food and beverage inventory levels to ensure optimum availability. Communicate with manager about inventory needs and discrepancies. Assist in inventory checks and stock rotation to minimize waste.
**Maintaining Restaurant Cleanliness**:Ensure the dining area, tables, and service stations are clean and organized. Perform regular checks to maintain the restaurant’s cleanliness throughout service. Address any cleanliness issues promptly and efficiently.
**Educating Guests**:Provide information to guests about different foods, beverages, and dining experiences. Enhance the dining experience by sharing knowledge and recommendations with guests.
**Team Collaboration**:Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff, bartenders, and other team members. Communicate effectively with team members and management. Provide feedback and suggestions for improving restaurant operations and guest experience.
**Promoting Our Social Pages**:Encouraging customers to follow our social media, subscribe to newsletters for exclusive offers, discounts, and updates on new menu items.
**Maintaining Checklists and Records**:Always follow the opening and closing checklist and policy. Maintain incentive records. Rising the store request for restaurant supplies.
**Professional Development**:Continuously improve knowledge of food and beverage operations and guest service. Attend training sessions and workshops as required. Stay informed about the restaurant’s offerings, promotions, and events.
**Appearance and Grooming**:Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times. Ensure staff adhere to grooming and uniform standards.
**Additional Responsibilities**:Assist with any additional duties as assigned by management to support the restaurant’s operations. Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to the improvement of restaurant operations.
