**About TEA**:
The Education Alliance (TEA) is a non-profit organization registered in India to catalyze quality transformations in the public-school system through strategic partnership support. TEA aims to build an ecosystem in which governments can strategically partner with mission-oriented non-profit educational organizations to deliver high-quality education. Our goal is to empower government schools to create the next generation of leaders by transforming the quality of education offered in these schools. High-quality education for every child in India would call for a system that is accountable, collaborative, and equitable.
TEA sets up a Project Management Unit (PMU) to support the state education departments to partner more strategically with non-state actors and to design and deliver programs with the objective of building governments’ own capacity to sustain these initiatives post the exit of external partners. TEA currently has ongoing programs in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Madhya Pradesh.
**Position Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**
**Data Stewardship**
- Data Governance: Discovery & classification of data to implementation of policies, rules & metadata.
- Data Quality: The data steward will work with the data team and the development team to establish data-quality metrics and requirements, including defining the values, ranges, and parameters that are acceptable for each data element. The data steward will also implement procedures for detection and correction of data-quality issues and collaborate to establish policies, procedures, and internal controls affecting the quality of data
- Operational Oversight: Defining, implementing policies and procedures for the day-to-day operational and management of the entire data lifecycle from creation to archival.
- Cultural Change: Driving the roles defined above, creating and persisting a culture of data integrity, privacy, compliance and auditing.
- Monitoring: The data steward will be responsible for monitoring the compliance of the entire ecosystem around the data to the standards and procedures established. Where compliance is missed, the data steward will raise an issue and ensure compliance.

**Communication & Documentation**
- A standard practice of doing thorough research and validation of information that forms the basis of all reports created by the data steward.
- The role will include pitching reports/findings to decision makers and pushing for changes.
- Documentation and communication related to program achievements / outcomes and program implementation through concept notes, presentations, reports, approval letters, etc.
- Documentation on on-ground learnings and knowledge received from external partner to support TEA’s internal capacity / knowledge building

**Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Good knowledge of query languages and ability to understand undocumented complex queries.
- Knowledge in data governance practices and performance tuning.
- Strong analytical (read quantitative) and problem-solving skills.
- Able to think and view data management in a big picture context and in the long term.
- Good written and oral communication skills, Office suite skills, interpersonal skills and networking skills.
- Experiences working with government and in education sector is desirable, though not necessary
- High level of spoken and written fluency in English and Tamil
