This pivotal role demands an exceptional grasp of **TRAI and DoT mandates, telecom licensing conditions, and policy development**. You will be the crucial link between our operations, legal teams, and government bodies, shaping our regulatory strategy and ensuring our continued success in a highly regulated environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
Regulatory Strategy & Policy Advocacy
- **Lead the interpretation and analysis of new and existing telecom regulations, policies, and guidelines (TRAI, DoT, MIB, MeitY, etc.)**. Assess their impact on our business operations, services, and future plans.
- **Formulate and implement regulatory strategies** to ensure compliance while supporting business growth and innovation.
- **Prepare and submit comments, representations, and position papers** to regulatory authorities and industry bodies on proposed policy changes, consultations, and licensing matters.
- Actively **participate in industry forums, associations, and working groups** to stay abreast of regulatory developments and influence policy outcomes.
Government & Regulatory Engagement
- **Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key officials** at TRAI, DoT, TERM cells, TEC, and other relevant government departments and ministries.
- **Represent the company in meetings, hearings, and discussions** with regulatory authorities, effectively articulating our positions and addressing queries.
- **Facilitate and manage all regulatory approvals, licenses, and permits** required for our telecom operations, ensuring timely renewals and adherence to conditions.
- **Handle regulatory inquiries, notices, and show-cause orders** with meticulous attention to detail and provide timely, compliant responses.
Compliance Assurance & Risk Management
- **Oversee the company's adherence to all telecom licenses, statutory obligations, and regulatory directives.**:
- **Conduct proactive regulatory compliance assessments** and identify potential risks or gaps in existing operations.
- **Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Sales) to embed regulatory requirements** into business processes, product development, and service delivery.
- **Support internal and external regulatory audits**, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Develop and implement **mitigation strategies for identified regulatory risks**.
Reporting & Documentation
- **Prepare comprehensive regulatory reports and dashboards** for senior management, outlining compliance status, key regulatory developments, and potential impacts.
- Maintain a **centralized repository of all regulatory communications, filings, licenses, and approvals**.
**Requirements**:
- **Education**: Postgraduate degree (MBA, Law degree, or a relevant technical degree preferred).
- **Experience**: 7+ years of progressive experience in **Regulatory Affairs within the Indian telecom sector**, with a proven track record of directly engaging with TRAI and DoT.
- **Skills**:
- **In-depth and up-to-date expert knowledge of Indian telecom laws, regulations, and policies** (e.g., TRAI Act, Indian Telegraph Act, UASL/UL VNO licenses, MNP, QoS, Security Guidelines, Interconnection Use Charges, etc.).
- **Demonstrable experience in drafting policy submissions, consultation paper responses, and regulatory representations.**:
- **Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with government officials and industry stakeholders.**:
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex regulatory texts and assess their business implications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Prior experience in a consulting firm specializing in telecom regulatory affairs or within the regulatory department of a major telecom operator is highly advantageous.
- **Other Requirements**:
- Must be based in **Delhi/NCR**, with willingness for occasional travel to government offices or industry events as required.
