Cinematographer Video Editor

Cinematography:

- **Video Shooting**:

- Plan and execute video shoots, including setting up the camera, lighting, and sound equipment.
- Ensure the capture of high-quality footage, adhering to project specifications, artistic direction, and technical requirements.
- Select appropriate lenses, filters, and camera angles to achieve the desired visual effects and aesthetics.
- Work closely with the director, producer, or project manager to align with the overall vision and style of the project.
- **Lighting & Composition**:

- Set up and adjust lighting for scenes to create the appropriate mood and tone.
- Compose shots, ensuring proper framing, focus, and movement to enhance storytelling.
- **Camera Operation**:

- Operate professional video cameras and equipment during shoots, managing settings such as exposure, focus, and shutter speed.
- Work with specialized cameras (e.g., drones, gimbals, or Steadicams) for specific shots or effects.
- **On-Set Collaboration**:

- Collaborate with directors, actors, and other crew members to ensure smooth shooting days and the achievement of the creative vision.
- Adapt to changing conditions on set and quickly troubleshoot technical or creative challenges.

Video Editing:

- **Post-Production Editing**:

- Edit raw footage into a cohesive, compelling narrative that aligns with the project’s goals.
- Use editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.) to cut, trim, and assemble footage into the final product.
- Sync audio with video, ensuring that the sound quality is clear and properly aligned.
- **Color Grading & Correction**:

- Perform color correction and color grading to ensure consistent and professional-quality visuals.
- Adjust contrast, brightness, saturation, and other elements to enhance the overall look of the video.
- **Sound Design**:

- Incorporate sound effects, background music, voiceovers, and dialogue into the video.
- Ensure the audio mix is balanced and enhances the emotional impact of the visuals.
- **Visual Effects (VFX)**:

- Add visual effects or motion graphics when needed, using tools like After Effects or other VFX software.
- Work with animation or graphic design teams to integrate elements into the video.
- **Final Output**:

- Ensure the final video is in the appropriate format and resolution for its intended platform (e.g., YouTube, social media, TV, film).
- Double-check that the video meets quality standards, including resolution, frame rate, and audio levels.

Additional Responsibilities:

- **Creative Collaboration**:

- Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm ideas and plan the visual direction for video content.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders (directors, producers, clients) during both the shooting and editing phases.
- **Project Management**:

- Manage deadlines and project timelines to ensure videos are completed on time.
- Maintain organized footage libraries and keep track of assets for easy access during post-production.
- **Technical Maintenance**:

- Maintain and troubleshoot camera and editing equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in cinematography and video editing techniques.

Skills & Qualifications:

- **Educational Requirement**: A degree or certification in Film Production, Cinematography, Video Editing, or a related field is often preferred but not always required.
- **Experience**: Proven experience in both cinematography and video editing, ideally with a strong portfolio showcasing completed projects.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency with camera equipment and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
- Knowledge of lighting, sound, and filming techniques.
- Familiarity with motion graphics and visual effects.
