The Cinematographer cum Editor is responsible for both capturing high-quality visual footage and editing it into a final product. This hybrid role requires creativity, technical expertise, and a keen understanding of both the shooting and post-production processes. The individual will be responsible for the visual aesthetics of the production, ensuring the correct framing, lighting, and composition during filming, and later assembling, trimming, and enhancing the footage during the editing phase to deliver a cohesive, compelling visual story.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**As Cinematographer**:

- **Pre-Production Planning**:

- Collaborate with the director, production designer, and other key creatives to plan the visual style and look of the project.
- Scout locations and decide on camera angles, shots, and lighting setups.
- Select the appropriate camera equipment, lenses, and accessories based on the project’s needs.
- **Filming**:

- Operate cameras and other equipment to capture footage according to the director’s vision.
- Ensure proper lighting techniques to create the desired mood and atmosphere.
- Maintain a high standard of composition, framing, and shot continuity.
- Oversee and adjust camera movements, lens choices, and filters during shooting.
- **Team Collaboration**:

- Work with the director, lighting crew, and sound team to ensure the visual elements align with the production’s overall goals.
- Manage a crew of camera operators and assistants (if applicable).

**As Editor**:

- **Footage Review**:

- Review and organize all raw footage, taking notes on the best takes, angles, and shots.
- Ensure the footage aligns with the story and visual concept established in pre-production.
- **Editing**:

- Cut and assemble footage to create a coherent narrative or visual sequence.
- Select the best takes, create transitions, and synchronize audio with the video.
- Work with sound, music, and **visual effects (VFX)** teams to enhance the project’s overall quality.
- **Post-Production Workflow**:

- Ensure the edited video meets the technical specifications for various distribution channels (e.g., television, online platforms, cinema).
- Deliver rough and final cuts based on client or director feedback.
- **Collaboration**:

- Communicate with the director and producers to implement feedback and make necessary revisions.
- Collaborate with **sound designers, VFX artists, and others involved in post-production.**
