- Creating displaysDesigning and implementing a visual merchandising strategy, and creating displays that lead customers through the store. This can include window displays, signs, interior displays, floor plans, and special promotions displays.

- Other tasksDepending on the retailer, a visual merchandiser may also perform stockouts, organize shelves, set up price and promotional signs, and coach in-store teams on how to set up merchandise displays.
