The Role

ED&F Man Sugar has an opportunity for an experienced Operations/Chartering executive to join a world leading trader of agricultural commodities at our India office. This position offers a broad spectrum of opportunity, scope, commercial activity and career progression within ED&F Man’s offices.

Main tasks and Responsibilities
- Good understanding of Charter Party terms (Sugar 99) and ensure vessel is operated/performs in line with terms of the Charter
- Work closely with trading desks and other stakeholders globally on operational matters
- Perform laytime calculations and liaising with in-house commercial and legal departments on negotiation and settlement of laytime disputes
- Liaise with brokers agents and Owners pertaining to day-to-day voyage issues.
- Coordinating releasing of bills of lading, LOI, re-documentation and switching of bills of lading when necessary.
- Coordinating agency appointments with owners
- Monitoring vessel movements and performances.
- Liaising with the P&I clubs, legal, compliance and insurance teams to resolve disputes.
- Updating various vessel questionnaires and certificates’ databases.
- Drawing up Charter parties
- Raising freight payment accounts/requests
- Experience in voyage charters preferably with agricultural products (for chartering position)

Experience and Education:

- At least a Diploma/Degree in a Maritime, Business or numerical based discipline
- ICS qualifications will be a definite added advantage
- Ideally residing in or near Mumbai

**Skills**:

- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Energetic, self-motivated with strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Willing and able to work long hours or outside office hours when required to accomplish designated tasks
- Comfortable working in a multicultural work environment with global offices
- Experience with laytime/charter party editor software is an advantage
- Well versed with MS Office suite
