As a Fetal Medicine Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing advanced care for expectant mothers and their unborn children. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and manage complex fetal conditions and high-risk pregnancies. Your expertise will guide families through challenging medical decisions, ensuring the highest standard of maternal and fetal health.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Clinical Care**:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of high-risk pregnancies.
- Perform advanced fetal imaging, including anomaly scans, fetal echocardiography, and Doppler studies.
- Provide prenatal diagnostic procedures like amniocentesis, CVS, and cordocentesis.
- **Fetal Interventions**:
- Manage and perform fetal therapeutic procedures such as intrauterine transfusions and TTTS management.
- Collaborate with neonatal and surgical teams for in utero interventions as required.
- **Counseling and Communication**:
- Offer pre-procedure and post-diagnosis counseling to patients and families.
- Provide clear, compassionate explanations of diagnostic findings and treatment options.
- **Education and Mentorship**:
- Train and mentor medical staff, including junior doctors, nurses, and sonographers.
- Share knowledge through case studies, seminars, and workshops.
- **Research and Development**:
- Participate in research initiatives in fetal medicine and contribute to medical advancements.
- Publish findings and present at conferences to enhance professional standing and institutional reputation.
- **Administrative and Operational Duties**:
- Maintain meticulous patient records and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to institutional and ethical guidelines.
- Support the development of clinical protocols for fetal medicine services.
**Qualifications**
- **Education**: MBBS, DGO, FCPS with a focus on Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- **Experience**:
- At least 3+years in obstetrics and gynecology practice.
- Specialized experience or certification in fetal medicine is preferred.
- **Skills**:
- Expertise in fetal imaging and invasive diagnostic techniques.
- Strong communication, counseling, and teamwork skills.
