Job Overview:
**Responsibilities**:

- Perform soil sampling and analysis, conduct crop assessments, and evaluate land suitability for crops based on soil and climate conditions.
- Develop and implement sustainable cassava cultivation plans, including soil management, fertilization, pest and disease control, and water irrigation strategies adapted to the specific conditions in Wanica.
- Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of different agricultural practices and introduce innovative techniques for increased yield and quality.
- Provide technical assistance and training to women farmers on improved farming methods, including crop management, disease control, and sustainable land use.
- Monitor crop growth and health, identifying and offering solutions to challenges as they arise.
- Collect and analyze data on crop yields, soil conditions, and other relevant factors, and use this data to inform future cultivation strategies
- Collaborate with the processing team to align farming practices with product quality standards.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote sustainable agricultural practices and the benefits of cassava cultivation.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field. Experience with root crops(particularly cassava) is highly desirable.
- 5+ years of experience in agricultural research-crop and soil, extension, or production, in a tropical climate is a must.
- Strong understanding of soil science-soil health management, plant nutrition, pest and disease management, and irrigation techniques.
- Ability to train and collaborate with farmers from diverse backgrounds.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Dutch is a plus. Sranan Tongo is a valuable asset.
