The goal is to engage with current and prospective students, alumni, faculty, and the community while promoting the university’s brand, values, and activities. Below are the key responsibilities for this role:
**1. Social Media Strategy Development**:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the university’s goals and target audience.
- Identify key platforms for engagement (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok) based on the audience demographic.
- Stay up-to-date with trends and emerging social media platforms to ensure the university’s presence is innovative and engaging.
**2. Content Creation and Curation**:
- Create engaging, high-quality content (images, videos, graphics, written posts) for all social media platforms.
- Curate content from various departments, including academic programs, student life, faculty highlights, and campus events.
- Ensure that the content reflects the university’s brand, values, and mission, and resonates with students, parents, and alumni.
**3. Community Engagement**:
- Respond to comments, messages, and mentions on all platforms, ensuring timely and positive engagement with followers.
- Monitor social media conversations and trends to engage with users in real-time, especially during key university events or crises.
- Foster a sense of community and inclusiveness on the university’s social media channels.
**4. Campaign Management**:
- Develop and manage social media campaigns to promote university initiatives, events, recruitment drives, and other activities.
- Coordinate campaigns with other marketing and communication teams to ensure consistency across all platforms.
- Track and measure the performance of campaigns to determine effectiveness and make improvements.
**5. Analytics and Reporting**:
- Use analytics tools to track social media performance (engagement, reach, follower growth, etc.).
- Prepare regular reports for university leadership on social media trends, insights, and ROI of campaigns.
- Adjust strategies and content based on analytics and feedback to continuously improve social media performance.
**6. Brand Monitoring and Reputation Management**:
- Monitor the university’s online reputation by tracking mentions, reviews, and comments across all platforms.
- Address negative feedback or crises in a professional and timely manner to maintain the university’s reputation.
- Ensure that all social media content aligns with the university’s voice and brand guidelines.
**7. Collaborating with Other Departments**:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., admissions, alumni relations, student services) to ensure social media content aligns with their goals and objectives.
- Promote university-wide events, student success stories, faculty achievements, and research advancements through social media.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to integrate social media efforts into broader marketing campaigns.
**8. Student and Alumni Engagement**:
- Highlight student life, achievements, and testimonials on social media to foster school pride and attract prospective students.
- Develop strategies to engage alumni through social media, keeping them connected to the university.
- Promote university events like open houses, career fairs, and reunions, encouraging active participation from both current students and alumni.
**9. Content Scheduling and Management**:
- Plan and schedule social media posts to ensure a consistent and active presence on all platforms.
- Utilize tools like Hootsuite or Buffer for scheduling posts and managing social media activity.
- Plan and execute content calendars that include regular posts, special events, holidays, and university milestones.
**10. Influencer and Partnership Collaboration**:
- Identify and engage with influencers, student ambassadors, and faculty members who can contribute to the university’s social media presence.
- Collaborate with external organizations or partners for joint campaigns, sponsorships, or cross-promotions.
**11. Event Promotion**:
- Promote university events, including guest lectures, cultural events, webinars, and conferences, across social media platforms.
- Live-tweet or live-stream key events to engage real-time participation from followers.
**12. Stay Current with Social Media Trends**:
- Continuously research new trends, tools, and technologies in the social media space.
