Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to join our culinary team as a Commis I. The Commis I will play a crucial role in assisting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with a passion for culinary arts, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow in a professional kitchen environment.

**Responsibilities**:
1. **Food Preparation**:

- Assist in the preparation of ingredients and mise en place for various dishes.
- Follow recipes and guidelines provided by senior chefs.
- Ensure that all food items are prepared in a timely and efficient manner.

2. **Cooking**:

- Execute basic cooking techniques under the guidance of senior kitchen staff.
- Monitor cooking processes, temperatures, and presentation standards.

3. **Kitchen Cleanliness**:

- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of ingredients.
- Follow sanitation and hygiene standards to ensure a safe and healthy kitchen environment.
- Assist in routine cleaning tasks and end-of-day kitchen closure procedures.

4. **Team Collaboration**:

- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with chefs and other team members.
- Take direction and feedback positively to enhance skills and performance.

5. **Quality Control**:

- Assist in quality checks for ingredients and finished dishes.
- Report any issues or discrepancies to senior chefs promptly.
- Strive to achieve consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion control.

6. **Learning and Development**:

- Actively participate in training programs and culinary workshops.
- Continuously seek opportunities to expand culinary knowledge and skills.
- Take on additional responsibilities and challenges to support career growth.

7. **Adherence to Standards**:

- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and kitchen safety protocols.
- Adhere to the established recipes and standards set by the culinary team.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in a culinary role or relevant culinary education.
- Basic understanding of cooking techniques and food preparation.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Food safety and hygiene certification is a plus.
