Apparel Designer Intern

As an Apparel Design Intern at our startup, you will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of innovative and trend-setting women's and men's wear collections. This internship will provide hands-on experience in all aspects of the design process, from conceptualization to production, within a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment. You will collaborate closely with our team to bring creative visions to life and make a meaningful impact on our brand's growth and success.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Design Conceptualization**: Assist in generating original ideas and concepts for women's and men's wear collections that align with our brand identity and target market. Brainstorm creative themes, silhouettes, colors, and patterns for seasonal collections.
- **Sketching and Digital Design**: Create sketches, drawings, and digital designs to visualize design concepts and communicate ideas effectively. Utilize design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to develop detailed technical drawings and renderings.
- **Fabric and Material Selection**: Research and source fabrics, materials, trims, and accessories that are on-trend, high-quality, and cost-effective. Assist in building relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely procurement of materials.
- **Prototype Development**: Assist in developing prototypes and samples of designs, including patternmaking, draping, and sewing. Collaborate with patternmakers, sample makers, and seamstresses to refine designs and address any fit or construction issues.
- **Trend Research**: Stay informed about current fashion trends, industry developments, and competitor offerings. Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging styles to inform design decisions and identify opportunities for innovation.
- **Assistance in Production**: Support the production process by assisting with fabric cutting, garment assembly, and quality control checks. Ensure that designs meet quality standards, specifications, and production timelines.
- **Collaboration and Communication**: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including merchandising, marketing, and production to ensure alignment with brand objectives and strategies. Communicate design concepts, ideas, and updates clearly and professionally.

**Requirements**:
1. **Education**: Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or related field. Students pursuing degrees in Fashion Merchandising or Textile Design with strong design skills are also encouraged to apply.

2. **Portfolio**: A portfolio showcasing your design skills, creativity, and proficiency in women's and men's wear design. The portfolio should include sketches, digital designs, and any relevant design projects or internships.

3. **Skills**:

- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
- Strong sketching and illustration skills.
- Knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, and sewing techniques.
- Creativity, innovation, and a passion for fashion.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment.
