Medical Lab Technician

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Operate and maintain advanced diagnostic equipment such as Automated Biochemistry Analyzer, Hematology analyzer, electrolyte analyzer, CLIA.
Sample Collection & Preparation:
Perform routine quality control checks on laboratory equipment and reagents to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results. Document all quality control measures as per hospital protocols.
Test Reporting: Accurately analyze and report test results in a timely manner, ensuring clarity for physicians. Cross-check results for accuracy and escalate unusual or critical results to senior staff.
Maintenance of Laboratory Equipment:
Compliance & Safety: Follow hospital guidelines and protocols for lab safety, including infection control measures, safe handling of samples, and hazardous materials. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
Inventory Management: Maintain proper stock levels of reagents, chemicals, and other lab supplies.
Documentation: Accurately document test results, equipment maintenance logs, and quality control data. Maintain patient records in the hospital’s Laboratory Information System (LIS) or electronic medical records (EMR).
Patient Interaction: Explain test procedures to patients and address any concerns they may have during sample collection, ensuring their comfort and confidence.
Collaboration with Healthcare Staff: Work closely with physicians, pathologists, and nurses to prioritize tests and provide results that assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. Ensure effective communication regarding critical findings.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT).
Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a lab technician, preferably in a hospital or multispeciality setting. Experience in operating automated analyzers and other laboratory equipment is essential.
**Work Environment**:
Lab-based role within a multispeciality hospital.
May involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays depending on hospital needs.
Regular interaction with healthcare professionals and patients.
