Role/Responsibilities:
Financial Data Analyst have a significant input to Moody’s Ratings and Research business by analysing financial statements and data provided by Issuers. The team is regularly provided with valuable training classes and interaction with Analysts as part of knowledge transfer and career growth. The FDA position provides a unique opportunity to foster skills that are valuable to any future career in the financial services industry.
- The FDA uses accounting and capital market knowledge to perform financial statement analysis, adjust reported data per relevant rating methodology requirements
- Perform Ratio analysis and update rationales for inconsistent ratios/metrics with in-depth research in the financial statements
- Develop working knowledge of Moody’s rating methodologies, Accounting principles, Key ratios to generate qualitative metrics and scorecard
- Support issuer/client outreach program by preparing presentations with quantitative data, charts, and supplementary information
- Prepare rating committee materials like, Peer comp report, Stress testing report, RC memo, etc.
- Support Research publications by performing fundamental research on various financial documents, and update relevant models/templates to generate, charts and tables, commentaries on company specific or industry specific events

Qualifications:

- Post graduate degree required; specializations in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience required
- Knowledge or prior experience in Financial spreading, Ratio analysis is preferred
- Advance understanding of various company filings (10K, annual reports, Solvency reports) and should be comfortable with secondary research
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and particularly Excel, such as pivot tables, lookups, etc.
- Individual must be organized, dependable, able to multi-task and manage priorities, display initiative, and the ability to work independently in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal & written), and interpersonal skills are required.
