A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the marine industry is responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

- **Financial strategy**: Developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the company's goals
- **Budgeting**: Creating budgets and ensuring they are aligned with the company's strategic objectives
- **Cash flow**: Ensuring cash flow is adequate for the company's operations
- **Risk management**: Overseeing risk assessment and managing financial risk exposure
- **Compliance**: Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices
- **Taxation**: Overseeing tax planning and compliance to minimize tax liabilities
- **Reporting**: Developing financial reports and forecasts
- **Investments**: Managing investments and identifying investment opportunities
- **Vendor relationships**: Managing vendor relationships
- **Internal controls**: Overseeing internal control processes and ensuring they are in place
- **Auditing**: Developing and administering internal and statutory audits
- **IT**: Designing and promoting IT-based financial management systems
- **Cyber security**: Ensuring cyber security is in place to safeguard financial data

A CFO in the marine industry should have a strong understanding of corporate financial law, risk management, and data analysis. They should also have excellent communication skills, strong leadership and organizational abilities, and the ability to build relationships.
