Utthan’s journey began in 1981, when four women chose to work in the desolate Bhal region of Gujarat, helping marginalized communities to self-organize around critical livelihood issues and develop local leadership. Utthan, which means ‘upliftment’ in Hindi initiated a people’s movement comprising a large number of women and youth, to address their rights to regular, safe drinking water, protecting and accessing common land for their livelihood security, challenging patriarchy, feudal exploitation and caste discrimination at local levels. Modeled around gender just and inclusive community empowerment through capacity building and developing local leadership and institutions at several levels, Utthan has employed people’s knowledge and new innovations to help demonstrate best and brave practices. This mechanism has lent sustainability and a clear multiplier impact.

**Job Summary**: To systematize, capture, use, analyze and share Utthan’s collective knowledge by leading processes to ensure timely & quality documentation (of activities, experiences, perspectives and relevant information), enable and hone a culture of knowledge sharing and exchange in the organization.
**Responsibilities**:
- Streamline knowledge management strategy, implementation of systems and regularly capture data of all components of various Programmes & Projects, with the purpose of fulfilling learning, repository, and compliance needs.
- Document events/activities, meeting proceedings, all types of reports in line with compliance & organizational needs.
- Supporting team and management in preparing concept notes, small-scale surveys, action research, audits to document trends, status, needs around Thrust Areas
- Coordinate and collaborate with Communications personnel for generating innovative knowledge content based in organizational experience, impact and learnings and plan for its dissemination within and outside the organization (Annual report, process reports, change stories, testimonies etc.)
- Identify and take up actions to improve and sustain the quality & skills of team in documentation
- Implement mechanism for periodic sharing of analyses (wrt. outcomes, impact, procedures, and people) from captured qualitative & quantitative data amongst/by team as co-creators of this knowledge & with management so as to inform organizational decision making.
- Establish linkages & synergies with Programme & Area Leads, other Functions, field teams wrt. Knowledge Management uptake and collective mandate building.
- Support and advise the management on the implementations & growth of the Knowledge Management function, its link with other functions and Programmes
- Participate in relevant organizational planning and programming
- Provide regular feedback, support Performance Appraisals and Capacity enhancement plans of associated team
**Requirements**:
- A drive to build collaborative relationships and co-create establish goals, transform problems, enhance outcomes for results.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication (written, oral and presentation) and strong editorial skills.
- Fluency in the Gujarati language & working knowledge of English and Hindi.
- Proficiency in data management software and tools. (e.g. MS Excel, database systems).
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- 2-3 years of proven experience in documentation, preferably in the NGO setting or social sector.
- A degree in Mass Communications, MSW, MA in Sociology, Social Sciences, or relevant fiel
