Job Purpose:
Purchasing assistant is responsible for all activities, processes and operations related to Purchasing, Sourcing and Logistics including warehousing and travel. It is a supporting function to the business by controlling, improving and optimizing all activities, processes and operations in Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the purchase of goods, services and general third-party external interaction (one face to the supplier).- This includes engaging with the business stakeholders, Vendor Management activities in conjunction with the Sourcing team, expediting on time deliveries, implementing and adhering Fugro processes and procedures, some sourcing/contracting activities not covered by Sourcing, receiving of purchase requests, obtaining costs and eventual raising of purchaser orders using the Fugro nominated ERP solution and sending purchase orders to third parties.- Ensures all Fugro cost authorisation levels are adhered to.- Ensures all costs are up to date in the system and on time reporting of designated KPI,s such as savings, supplier reduction etc.- Works with the rest of the Supply Chain as required, management of any master date as determined for the department. Performs some negotiations of T&Cs and payment terms.- Assists the department in all purchasing activities by 1) using the ERP system, 2) performing some initial purchasing activities and, 3) training within the department to further their career.- Starts studying Supply Chain and obtaining the required qualifications (e.g. CIPS).

Responsible for ensuring safety of self and others at site. Prevent damage of equipment and assets Responsible for following all safety signs/procedures/ safe working practices Responsible for using appropriate PPE’s Responsible for participating in mock drills. Entitled to refuse any to undertake any activity considered unsafe. Responsible for filling up of hazard observation card, wherever hazard has been noticed at site. Responsible for safe housekeeping of his work place. To stop any operation that is deemed unsafe To be able to operate fire extinguisher in case of fire To report an incident as soon as possible to immediate supervisor and HSE manager To complete HSE trainings as instructed to do so.
