**Roles & Responsibilities**

**Daily Monitoring**:

- Monitoring Internet & BMS P2P links
- Monitoring Network Devices
- Monitoring Firewall(BMS) connections,
- Monitoring DC Network Device Temperature
- Monitoring Internet Bandwidth / Traffic
- Monitoring the Netflow Database,
- Monitoring Load balancer VIP connections
- Performing Network troubleshooting based on existing tools
- infrastructure at BMS like Solarwinds.
- Day to Day Network Operations:

- Switch Configuration Management:

- Layer 2 switching
- New VLAN port assignee to new/existing server
- Layer 3 switching
- Maintaining Spanning Tree consistency & switch design

**Router Configuration Management**:

- P2P link load balancing
- New Links / Network deployment
- Maintain the proper naming convention of the network device
- Firewall Policy Management(BMS):

- Creation/deletion of new/existing firewall policy based on any operation request

**Load Balancer Configuration Management(BMS)**:

- New VIP / Server Farm request Addition / deletion of new/existing servers under existing server farm based on Operations team request
- New segment addition Fine tuning the Load balancers device parameters

**Solarwinds Management**:

- Keeping track of the database, Memory & configuration changes

**Link management**:

- Call logging, Call follow-up & closure with respective link service provider for any link down event
- Maintaining the link circuit details of existing & new upcoming link circuits
- Performing monthly review meetings with various service providers service delivery managers

**Network Capacity Management**:

- Investigating any network bottlenecks/Peered link bandwidth constraints
- Network device Software Version Control and Management:

- Software version control in Web & BMS is an ongoing practice of deploying consistent software versions across network devices (Routers/Switch/Load
- Balancer/ Firewalls/Network Management).
- Determine device classifications based on chassis, stability, and new
- feature requirements.
- Validation and testing on the chosen software versions before actual deployment limiting the amount of software defects and interoperability issues found in the network.
- Target individual software versions for similar devices.
- Testing, validating, and pilot chosen software versions.
- Consistently deploy or upgrade all similar devices to standard software version
- IP Addressing Standards and Management:

- New IP address allocation, recycling and updating under Web & BMS IP admin management portal
- Ensuring there is no duplicate IP address device assignee
- Ensuring no wastage of Web & BMS IP address Pool
- Current Device, Link, and Inventory
- Keeping track of the entire Web & BMS datacenters Network equipment inventory details which enable to easily track network inventory during audits purpose, problem impact & network change impact
- Maintaining the database on circuit details on current & future upcoming links
- Maintaining the proper AMC of the Network devices across PAN India & BMS datacenters

**Network Topology Documentation**:

- Maintaining the Web & BMS Topology documentation (Logical & physical including connectivity, addressing, media type) across all Web & BMS datacenters including Web & BMS WAN setup which aids in the understanding and support of the network.
- Periodically updating the topology documentation whenever network change occurs.
- Various tools like Microsoft Visio; Power Point etc is used for the topology documentation.
