**Job Title**: Academic Counsellor

**Job Summary**:
The Academic Counsellor provides guidance and support to students in their academic journey, helping them achieve their educational and career goals. This role involves advising students on academic planning, personal development, and career exploration, and collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance the overall student experience.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Academic Advising**:

- Assist students in developing academic plans, selecting courses, and understanding degree requirements.
- Monitor students’ academic progress and provide support to help them stay on track to graduate.
- Interpret academic policies and procedures, including registration, withdrawals, and transfers.
- **Career Counseling**:

- Help students explore career options and set career goals.
- Provide guidance on resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
- Facilitate connections with internships, job opportunities, and career resources.
- **Personal Counseling**:

- Offer support for personal issues that may affect academic performance, such as stress, time management, or study skills.
- Refer students to additional resources or services, such as mental health professionals, when necessary.
- **Program Development**:

- Develop and implement workshops and seminars on academic skills, career planning, and personal development.
- Create and distribute educational materials related to academic and career success.
- **Student Advocacy**:

- Advocate for students' needs and interests within the academic institution.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other departments to address and resolve student concerns.
- **Record Keeping and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and outcomes.
- Prepare reports on student performance and counseling activities for institutional review.
- **Professional Development**:

- Stay informed about current trends in education, counseling techniques, and career development.
- Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional skills.

**Education**:

- Bachelor's (preferred)

**Experience**:

- total work: 1 year (preferred)
- Academic counseling: 1 year (preferred)
