1. Machine Operation: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC and VMC machines. They interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining processes, tooling requirements, and machine settings. They load materials, such as metal or plastic, into the machines and monitor the machining process to ensure it is running efficiently and producing high-quality products. 2. Programming: CNC and VMC Engineers create and edit CNC programs using programming languages such as G-code and CAM software. They may also use CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to design and program complex parts for machining. They troubleshoot and debug CNC programs to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency. 3. Maintenance: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for conducting regular maintenance on CNC and VMC machines to ensure they are in optimal condition. This may include cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts, as well as conducting routine inspections to identify and resolve any issues that may affect machine performance. 4. Quality Control: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. They use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes. They also perform in-process inspections to ensure that products are being machined correctly and troubleshoot any quality issues that may arise during production. 5. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues with CNC and VMC machines. They troubleshoot problems related to machine performance, tool wear, programming errors, and other technical issues. They may also work closely with other departments, such as maintenance, engineering, and production, to identify and resolve any production-related issues. 6. Documentation: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for maintaining accurate records of machine settings, tooling changes, and production data. They may also create reports and documentation related to machine performance, productivity, and quality control. 7. Safety: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for adhering to safety protocols and ensuring that CNC and VMC machines are operated safely. They follow safety guidelines, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure that machines are properly guarded and locked out during maintenance activities. 8. Continuous Improvement: CNC and VMC Engineers are responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes to optimize machining processes, reduce cycle times, improve productivity, and enhance product quality. They may also provide feedback and suggestions for design improvements to engineers and collaborate with other departments to implement changes.
