General Summary of Duties:
The Comm unity Mobilization and Patient M anagement Coordinator w ill be based in Durgapur, West bengal and w ill work closely with the p rogram c oordinators and Executive Director ( ED) towards community mobilization and patient recruitment and management for Operation Smile missions in India.

The primary responsibilit ies of the Patient Coordinator include:

- Select patient recruitment partners and coordinat e community mobilization activities
- Serve as the main point person between Operation Smile and patients
- Create and maintain patient database of operated and unoperated patients for missions that s/he is assigned for
- Organize three and six-month postoperative camps
- Assist in general program support as needed
- Facilitate special projects as needed

Essential Functions:
Community Mobilization
- Develop a community mobilization plan once a mission is confirmed in discussion with relevant p rogram c oordinator and E D
- Select partners and conduct prescreening camps
- Provide oversight to community partners
- Ensure all purchase orders for community mobilisers are created on a timely manner
- R esponsib le for payments and collection of all invoices
- Create, schedule and organize training modules for partners

Patient care and management
- Ensure that adequate numbers of patients travel to the mission site on the correct dates
- Coordinate patient transportation while ensuring cost efficiency
- Coordinate patient accommodation and food during the mission
- Maintain proper patient lists to ensure effective and efficient patient shelter management
- Oversee admission of patients on dedicated wards one day before surgery.
- Identify and enroll malnourished patients to the India nutrition program.

Post-Operative Care and Follow up
- Ensure all patients receive post-operative instructions and are provided transportation back home
- Oversee all post discharge communication with patients
- Help the p rogram c oordinator during the seven - day post - op
- Organize and lead three - and six - month follow - ups.
- Ensure timely follow up of all nutrition patients.

Experience Required (education/work):

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Work or intern experience in an international NGO context preferred
- Freshers with Internship experience are welcome to apply

Characteristics/Skills Required:

- Highly capable verbal and written communication
- Ability to articulate the position of Operation Smile with respect to development, global health delivery, and non-governmental organizations
- Team spirit, flexibility, commit ment, initiative and creativity
- A self-starter who is willing to learn and mature
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office products highly preferred
- Must be proficient in managing relationships and building networks
- Willingness to travel and stay away from base station up to 8 0% of the time
