PARENT TODDLER ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The teacher should display a gentle and nurturing personality, and the patience to assist each infant or child to mature cognitively. They should be able to assist in developing the infants’ and children’s social skills as they interact with each other.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Guiding babies and toddlers and their parents through education/development programs.
- Thinking on their feet and responding to each child’s needs efficiently.
- Displaying a patient and calm personality coupled with a loving approach to every child.
- Contributing positively to the behaviour and social interaction of children and parents.
- Building secure relationships with the children and their parents.
- Working closely with the HOS to ensure that guidelines are adhered to.
- Maintaining a record of the day’s events for parent perusal.
- Reporting accidents, illness and unusual behaviour of children to the HOS.
- Ensuring close communication with parents throughout the day should the need arise.
- Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
- Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the parents of every child, including thorough communication about the program and each child’s progress.
- Ensures that toys and equipment are returned to appropriate places by the end of day unless otherwise directed.
- Adheres to all established policies, procedures and code of ethics.
- Maintains a positive interpersonal relationship with all children, co-workers, and parents / guardians.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years experience
