**Overview**

The quality of school education available to students from low-income communities across India is abysmal. Their chances of getting admitted to a college or building a career are much lower than their high-income peers, condemning them to a life without voice or choice. iTeach was born to declare war on this status quo and create a level playing field for ALL children. **We do this in Pune and Navi Mumbai by co-creating contextual school models with Municipal Corporations.**

We run 12 free and high-impact secondary schools and a college-to-career program for the most disadvantaged students. In 2024, with a staff of 300 members across 12 schools, we will serve 4500 students and 3000 alumni - giving students a fighting chance at college, career, and citizenship. We aim to grow to 30 schools and 10,000 students over the next five years.

**Responsibilities**

This role sits within our Partnerships and Communications Team. There are two key parts of the Communications Associate role.

**I. Strategy**:

- Design an innovative three-year strategy for Communications at iTeach Schools, including research around best practices for public relations, content design and outreach.
- Develop an annual implementation plan for this strategy for the first year.
- Synthesize the iTeach brand identity
- voice, style and tone and ensure its consistency across platforms and teams.
- Measure the effectiveness of various outreach channels to strategically prioritize the most effective ones.

**II. Creation & Outreach**:

- Source, write and curate stories of impact and growth at multiple levels (student, student alumni, educators, school), serving the needs of our fundraising, recruitment and government relations teams.
- Manage iTeach’s digital presence (social media, website, newsletter) to grow reach and effectiveness.
- Design and lead innovative PR campaigns, from conceptualization to delivery.
- Develop and manage effective relations with relevant press, media and sector influencers.
- Identify advocacy partnerships and opportunities for our leadership team.

**Prerequisites**
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or English with strong performance.
- Required: 1+ years of relevant work experience in the communications field.
- Proficiency in creating and promoting written, visual, and digital content.
- Exemplar writing skills, and ability to create content consistent with the iTeach brand identity.
- Evident talents in building relations and investing people in your cause.
