
Medical Records Officer

**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Records Management**:
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- File and retrieve medical records as required by medical staff and other departments.
- Ensure records are stored securely and are easily accessible when needed.
- **Data Entry and Processing**:
- Accurately enter patient data into the hospital’s electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Update patient records with new information such as test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- **Compliance and Confidentiality**:
- Ensure all medical records are managed in compliance with hospital policies, legal requirements, and industry standards (e.g., HIPAA).
- Maintain patient confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information.
- **Coordination and Communication**:
- Liaise with medical staff, nursing staff, and administrative personnel to facilitate the accurate and timely flow of information.
- Respond to requests for medical records from authorized individuals and entities.
- **Quality Control**:
- Conduct regular audits of medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Identify and correct discrepancies or errors in patient records.
- **Reporting and Documentation**:
- Prepare and maintain reports related to medical records activities, such as daily admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Document and report any issues or discrepancies to the reporting authority.
- **Support Services**:
- Assist in the preparation of medical records for legal and official purposes.
- Provide training and support to hospital staff on medical records management procedures and systems.
