**Role Overview**:
As our Story Producer & Publishing Manager, you will be the editorial backbone of our production process. After the interview is recorded and a base edit is completed by the video editor, you will take ownership and shape the final narrative. You’ll determine what stays, what goes, and the sequencing of segments. You’ll produce short-form highlights for social media, oversee final packaging (titles, thumbnails, captions), ensure timely uploads, track performance metrics, and relay insights back to the team to continuously refine our approach.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Narrative Editing & Structure**: Transform raw long-form interviews (already rough-cut by the video editor) into cohesive, story-driven episodes.
- **Content Strategy for Shorts & Highlights**: Identify and create compelling short-form clips for promotions and social media distribution.
- **Project Management**: Own the production calendar—coordinate with the research associate, video editor, and host to ensure timely releases.
- **Analytics & Optimization**: Analyze viewership data, audience retention metrics, and engagement stats. Suggest improvements in content strategy, format, pacing, and promotion to increase audience retention and growth.
- **Team Communication**: Provide ongoing feedback to the host and research associate on topic selection, structural improvements, and audience insights. Provide post-release performance reports.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Storytelling Expertise**: Proven experience in shaping narrative—3-5 years in roles like story producer, video editor with editorial oversight, documentary producer, journalist, or content strategist.
- **Video Editing Fluency**: Strong working knowledge of editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve). While the initial technical edit is handled by someone else, you should be comfortable performing final refinements.
- **Audio/Podcast Familiarity**: Experience with audio-only formats and podcast publishing platforms.
- **Strategic Thinking**: Demonstrated ability to interpret data, identify patterns in audience behavior, and translate these insights into actionable editorial changes.
- **Digital Publishing & SEO**: Familiarity with YouTube analytics, podcast hosting platforms, basic SEO principles, and social media marketing best practices.
- **Communication Skills**: Exceptional ability to collaborate across small teams. Strong written communication skills for show notes, descriptions, and internal reports.
- **Project Management**: Proven track record of managing content pipelines end-to-end, meeting deadlines, and juggling multiple projects at once.

**Preferred**:

- Background in journalism, documentary filmmaking, or a related field.
- Experience with graphic design or motion graphics is a plus but not required.
- Proven track record of growing a digital audience.
