Introduction:

- Own IFRS9 and CECL risk models to manage entire lifecycle starting from data governance, development, implementation and monitoring.
- Perform review and challenge of PD/LGD/EAD models used for IFRS9, CECL and GAAP impairment forecasting
- Work with modelling teams (QA), internal model validation teams (IVU and BIA) and external auditor to manage remediation of findings and observations on IFRS9 and CECL risk models
- Develop Post Model Adjustments (PMA)to address model inaccuracy and underperformance
- Review model monitoring reports to assess drivers for model underperformance and liase with modelling teams to design and implement tactical and strategic remediation
- Assess modelling and non modelling drivers to Month over Month changes in ECL and PMA and provide commentary for multiple forums
- Support production of commentary packs and decks for multiple forums and group impairment committee

The work carried out within the role can be broken down into three “layers”:

- Data - Colleague need to have a deep knowledge of data sources to carry out impairment analysis. Detailed knowledge of impairment data is required as well as understanding of techniques and ideas to streamline and optimise risk measurement activities and processes. Where required, support will be provided to help colleagues build up their knowledge in this area. Colleague needs to be highly proficient in programming languages like SAS (Python added advantage).
- Analysis - Ability to carry out detailed and highly complex analyses to understand portfolio performance and drivers of impairment and capital. Using SAS/SQL lanuguages and eventually be trained upon Python internally.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management - Results of analyses will need to be presented to senior stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) in a clear and concise manner.

At AVP level, the colleague will demonstrate analytical and technical skills as well as knowledge of fundamentals of retail credit risk management, particularly across impairment management. The colleague will also need to demonstrate sound judgement in collaboration with the wider team and management.

What will you be doing?
- Review and challenge IFRS9 and CECL impairment models
- Review model monitoring results of PD/LGD/EAD models to assess if the models are fit to use, and work with QA teams to develop remediation plans if needed
- Produce an annual and monthly forecast for both IFRS9 / CECL
- Able to carry out ad hoc investigations and analysis into portfolio performance, new models and regulatory/policy changes Impairment accuracy and integrity though analytics, appropriate use of accounting/financial techniques/tools and attention to detail
- Maintain management information on impairment metrics e.g. stock coverage.
- Experience working within a SOx governance framework could be also beneficial.
- Present and communicate results to management and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate a culture of decision making through provision of robust and accurate analyses.

What we’re looking for:

- Ability to deal with complex problems/issues, hypothesis testing via data analysis.
- High level of proficiency in SAS and SQL or Python
- Impairment provisioning standards (i.e. IFRS9 or CECL)
- Forecasting and risk modelling technique knowledge
