Coating Pan Operator

The Coating Pan Operator plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process of OSD (Oral Solid Dosage) pharmaceuticals by operating and maintaining coating pans used in the production of tablets and capsules. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a commitment to quality and safety standards.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- **Operate Coating Equipment**:

- Monitor equipment performance, including temperature, speed, and airflow, to ensure optimal coating efficiency and product quality.
- **Prepare Coating Solutions**:

- Prepare coating solutions or suspensions by accurately measuring and mixing ingredients, including coating agents, solvents, colorants, and other additives, according to formulation requirements.
- Adjust coating solution parameters, such as viscosity and pH, as needed to achieve desired coating characteristics.
- **Perform Coating Processes**:

- Monitor coating processes, including spraying, drying, and curing, to achieve desired coating thickness, color, and finish.
- **Monitor Product Quality**:

- Conduct in-process checks and inspections to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications, including visual inspection of coated tablets or capsules for defects or irregularities.
- Identify and troubleshoot coating issues, such as uneven coating, over
- or under-coating, or coating defects, and take corrective actions as necessary.
- **Maintain Equipment and Cleanliness**:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks on coating equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and calibrating, to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of coating pans, tools, and work areas to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
- **Document and Recordkeeping**:

- Record process parameters, production data, and equipment maintenance activities in batch records, logbooks, or electronic systems accurately and timely.
- Complete documentation and paperwork associated with coating processes, including batch records, production reports, and material usage records.
- **Adhere to Safety and Regulatory Standards**:

- Follow safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling hazardous materials safely.
- Comply with regulatory requirements and quality standards, such as cGMP, FDA regulations, and company policies and procedures.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in pharmaceutical manufacturing or related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a Coating Pan Operator or similar role in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in OSD manufacturing, highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of coating processes, equipment operation, and pharmaceutical manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of cGMP regulations, safety practices, and quality control procedures applicable to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
