**Job Description**:
Career Advisor helps you make choices about your career path based on your strengths and interests. They can help you find out what you can do with your degree, whether that means entering the job market or continuing your studies. A career advisor helps you with your job search.

**Responsibilities**:
Careers advisers provide advice and guidance services in a range of settings to people who want support in making choices that will affect their working lives.

Typical responsibilities include:

- Providing appropriate help and advice
- Assessing personal characteristics, skills and interests via individual interviews
- Keeping up to date with information about follow-up, status, professional regulation and the jobs market
- Develop outreach programs to promote career advisement services among students.
- Respond to student questions pertaining to career development, exploration and placement procedures
- Educate students on job search skills and industry trends in order to get them prepared for employment.
- Liaising with colleges, employers and professional organizations
- Promoting and marketing services via social media & LinkedIn

Key skills:

- Excellent communication skills - these should include active listening, alongside aptitude for verbal and written communication
- A non-judgmental manner
- The ability to motivate people
- Strong teamwork skills
- Analytical skills - including the ability to take someone’s interests, experience and preferences, alongside your knowledge, and develop considered suggestions.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in career advisers in US market
